Revel’s main competitor is Apple’s iPhoto, which boasts more control over your photo editing, plus syncing over Apple’s cloud service. Importing is very easy, as is creating Albums, and sharing your photos. Simply click Share This Album and it will be shared on the Revel website with a public link.Īdobe Revel is a good option if you’re happy to keep things simple and fast. If you want to share an album, open the album and click on the share album icon. Add an email address of the person you want to share the library with. You can also share an entire Library by clicking on the settings icon and clicking on your library. If you haven’t associated a service with your Mac you will be redirected to System Preferences to create it. The sharing tool picks up accounts you have set up under Mail, Contacts, and Calendars in System Preferences. When you share your photo you can enter some text, choose an album for Facebook, and add tags for Flickr. The actions menu also lets you add your photo to different albums, export, duplicate, and copy to the clipboard. Click on the Actions icon and choose where you want to share it. If you click and hold the Compare button, it will give you a preview of your unprocessed image.Īfter you have captioned and adjusted your photo it is time to share it with the world. You can also straighten your photo as well as rotate and flip your photo. Unfortunately you can’t choose pre-defined aspect ratios, a basic feature that makes cropping much easier. You crop the image by dragging the edges. If you’re editing a portrait you can click on the Red Eyes but and choose to let Revel remove red eyes automatically, or select the eyes manually.Ĭrop and Rotate lets you do what it says. To fine tune your image you can click on the Adjustments button and change the White Balance, Exposure, and Contrast. The change isn’t permanent until you click Apply. ![]() Choosing a filter is easy, simply select from the row of filters and the photo will change. To add a caption or comments to the photo click on the speech bubble icon.Ĭlicking on the +/- icon takes you into the adjustment settings where you can apply different filters to your photo. From here you can also make the photo a favourite by clicking on the star icon. You can import photos by dragging them directly into the app, or you can click the + button and import single photos, multiple photos or entire directories.ĭouble click on a photo to access the sharing and adjustments settings. To create a new album press command N, or click on the Create New Album button. Once you have signed in you can create albums and start uploading photos. You can do this within the app or on the Revel website. To get started with Revel you need create an Adobe Revel account. And remove red eye, as well as crop and straighten. Make additional adjustments to the colour balance, exposure, and contrast. You can choose from a number of different built in filters. The image editing options are fairly basic. You can also share an album on the Revel web site and generate a public link. It would also be nice to be able to share with Google+ and 500px. Images have to be shared individually, I couldn’t find a way to upload multiple images to Facebook or Flickr. You can share directly with Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, OS X Messenger and OS X AirDrop. For those who do use Revel’s service extensively, and need that unlimited upload capability, plans are $5.99/month or $59.99/year.Revel lets you share your photos by connecting to you social media accounts. However, now that I have hit my monthly limit, I will look to different sharing applications that do not require me to pick and choose to meet a limited quota. I find it incredibly unfortunate, because I truly do enjoy Revel’s interface and sharing options. After uploading 50 photos for the month, Revel will provide you with upgrade options.Īdobe offers the first 30 days with unlimited uploads, and all was going well until I hit my 50 photos/month limit only 10 days into April. ![]() Even better, this application syncs across devices, and lets users access Adobe’s Cloud to edit photos in Photoshop and Premiere Elements 12. The application has some simple editing tools, and albums can be updated by anyone with the given permission. A bit behind, but forgivable for an application the promises powerful sharing and privacy options. Privacy is at the forefront of this application, and users must be explicit in choosing who has access to view or add photos to specific albums. The application was initially released on iOS way back in 2011, but it made its way to Android in March 2014. Revel is a fantastically designed photography application, and is nothing short of what you would expect from Adobe.
